By now, if the title does not have you curious as to what is Max Verstappen‘s favorite activity is, we are just going to have to tell you. It’s sim racing of course! When the 3-time world champion is not found leading F1, he is sitting at home behind his sim wheel. Although he did not win the Miami Grand Prix, it seems like he is not worried about the upcoming race.

With the Imola Grand Prix being the next race on the calendar, Max Verstappen has signed himself up for another championship that weekend. It’s not uncommon for Verstappen to jump into some iRacing before a Grand Prix. However this time, he is not just racing for fun as he has taken up doing a 24-hour endurance race during the Imola weekend.

On one hand, it’s his commitments to his full-time job at Red Bull, and on the other, it’s his iRacing team that he needs to please. The 26-year-old has his work cut out for him this weekend as a recent Instagram post revealed that he has to be racing the iRacing Nurburgring which runs for 24 hours and is scheduled from May 17-19.

It was just yesterday that iRacing announced their special event on their website about the iconic Nurburgring sim racing event. The tournament might put Verstappen away from his Formula car as the event will have team races in cars like GT3, GT4, Touring Car, Porsche Cup, and GR86 classes. Verstappen is not a stranger to the Nurburgring 24-hour iRacing competition as he and his crew Red Line won the sim LeMans back in 2021.

If Verstappen does end up juggling both races, it might be interesting to see which one he prioritizes. He has already lost a win in Miami and does this mean that it will happen again in Imola?

Team Redline keeps Verstappen up at night as he unwinds his F1 stress with some sim racing. It’s hard to believe that going from one steering wheel to another helps ease the mind but to each one their own. So when Verstappen was found putting in hours into Sim racing at an odd hour in the night, people started questioning his ability to perform in the race the next day.

That being said, being the dominant force that Verstappen is, he managed to win the race with ease. After the race, upon being asked about his late night sim-ing, the 3-time F1 world champion replied, “I just stayed a bit on European or even UK schedule, so I would go to bed at 4 a.m wake up late… The thing is, of course, also, I also have my own sim team, so naturally I’m just catching up with them a bit. It’s a bit of just unwinding as well.”
