As the reveal of the helmets prior to the qualifying session surfaced, there has been an active dialogue on the subject. The 22-karat gold helmet has put Max on par with legends like Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, as previously they have also donned gold helmets.
Max‘s gold helmet was made with real gold leaf, which is said to be more expensive than paint and requires a process that is meticulously delicate in nature.
The Dutch Lion couldn’t contain his excitement. He took to his Instagram for the helmet reveal where he mentioned that this shall be the ‘last helmet reveal’ of the season. The Dutchman is said to dawn the gold helmet for the last three remaining races. He shared a detailed breakdown of the helmet prior to the Mexican Grand Prix.
In his Instagram video, he said, “We went for some extra gold, after winning the drivers championship and the team winning the constructors championships. For the remainder of the season, I will be driving with this helmet, which is full of gold leaf. That made it extra special and with the white around it, it looks really cool.”
Even though the current season is yet to come to an end, Verstappen admits having started work on their car for 2023.
