King of Baku Charles Leclerc defeated the Red Bulls in one lap pace, putting in purple sectors being the fastest of the field. While Max Verstappen already stood defeated there, his own teammate, Sergio Perez, who has secured 5 of his 6 career wins on a street circuit, defeated him both in the Sprint race and the main one. But despite the forgettable stint on the shores of the Caspian Sea, Red Bull Taskmaster still only has eyes for the doubled world champion.
While Sergio Perez has registered 50% of the wins for RB so far this season, Max Verstappen won 15 races for his team last year and Sergio Perez won just two. And perhaps that is why the Milton Keynes advisor Helmut Marko is gaga over Verstappen’s consistency.
As quoted by OE24, Helmut said, “And there I see Max in front again. Leclerc could be fast in qualifying like in Baku, the race should be ours again. And I’m sticking to it: in terms of the season, Max Verstappen is the man, he’s the more constant.”

And while the fact is that the street specialist Perez did beat a relentless Verstappen, Max is putting on a nonchalant exterior.

Christian Horner said Checo got lucky, but was it really just luck when Perez created a lead of around three seconds when he finished ahead of Max in the feature race? While Perez has upped his game at bringing the fight to Dutchman, the latter is confident that the coming circuits will suit him more.
“We all know that the season is long and we have a lot of different circuits ahead of us. So far we have mainly been to circuits that are start-stop, so not really smooth tracks. Later on, there will be circuits with a little more flow in it and with more fast corners, that’s what I like,” Verstappen points out.
