Very few people are as happy as Lando Norris for winning his first race, and Zak Brown is one of them. The team boss has always had faith in his driver and believes Norris will be the next McLaren world champion. Currently, Max Verstappen is the thronesitter who has denied anyone the chance to win the title in the last 3 years and this year looks the same.

Lando Norris has to beat Verstappen to be able to take the title, but with the RB20 helping the Dutchman win every race, it doesn’t seem easy to do so. At least that’s what Zak Brown believes. According to Brown, Verstappen is only winning races because Red Bull has been giving him a car that can do so. While this claim is wild, to say the least, let’s take a look at what else Brown had to say.

Following Lando Norris’ win, Zak Brown was invited to the Beyond the Grid Podcast hosted by Tom Clarkson. That is where the McLaren boss spoke about Max Verstappen’s dominance in F1. He stated how he believes that it is Red Bull’s car that pushes him to victory race after race.

On the podcast, Brown revealed that Max Verstappen is not the only driver capable of being a world champion. In a bold statement, Brown complimented Verstappen saying, “As great as Max is, and he’s one of the best ever.” But then he shared his mind when he continued, “I don’t think Max wins the world championship today in any other car, other than the Red Bull.”

Brown may believe what he believes, but Max Verstappen remains unbothered by his rival team’s boss’ constant comments.

Max Verstappen is indifferent to Zak Brown’s comments

Zak Brown has always been critical of the mistakes other teams are making. He has always had it for Red Bull. Previously, he has appealed to the FIA against Red Bull having two teams. This time, he made it about Adrian Newey leaving the team along with other staff to join his team.

Max Verstappen was asked about this by Motorsport.com there was no way he’d be silent, the defending champion quickly responded “He [Brown] obviously wants to stir things up. For us as a team, we can’t do anything with comments like that. From his point of view, I understand it of course. Because everyone is trying to attract our people and that is completely normal in the world of Formula 1 as well.”

The world champion breaks down his philosophy saying, “In life, you can never guarantee everything. It’s also possible that I won’t wake up tomorrow morning. So in the end, you never know things 100 percent for sure in life anyway.”

He acknowledged Red Bull staff members leaving for other teams and said, “Of course, a lot of agreements are made, but in the end, it’s also about everyone being happy with their work and feeling appreciated within the team. There are a lot of human aspects involved as well.”

Verstappen is focused on his racing and leaves the rest of the work to the people whose job it is. That being said, do you think Max Verstappen can become the world champion in another team? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
