Ferrari is probably the most iconic and successful team in F1 history. There have been many world champions who have driven for the Italian outfit in their illustrious careers. But it looks like current world champion Max Verstappen won’t be one of them anytime soon.

In light of this, a Former Dutch driver and friend of Verstappen, Tom Coronel, believes that the world champion would have had more success had he driven for Ferrari. Coronel mentioned in the RacingNews365 podcast that if the Italian team wants, they can still go for the Red Bull driver despite his long-term deal.
“I’ve always said that. What is Max’s value? It’s what Ferrari is willing to pay for it. That is in any case the reason why Red Bull has signed him for the long term, because then at least you know that you have the best driver in the house.
If I were Ferrari, the director of Ferrari, I would now ask how much will it cost to buy Max away from Red Bull? Who says it can’t be done? I’ve seen so many things happen with money! Then you see at once what Verstappen is worth. He is worth infinite–he is worth all Ferrari,” said the former Dutch veteran.

However, it is highly unlikely that he would race in the iconic red anytime soon. He has just signed an extended contract with Red Bull that expires at the need of the 2028 season. Verstappen revealed his goal moving forward is to stay at the top of the sport with the Austrian team.
“Our goal since we came together in 2016 was to win the championship and we have done that, so now it’s about keeping the number one on the car long-term,” said the world champion.
