Sebastian Vettel’s 2012 championship was gifted by Michael Schumacher. Whilst Vettel did celebrate the win, he surely would’ve been gutted about his Mentor leaving the sport. Well, Red Bull might soon be in a similar kind of jiffy. As a scary reality was reiterated by the Red Bull backbone, Max Verstappen’s historic celebration was cut short giving Red Bull a heart attack. What was this scary reality?

At the 2023 Canadian GP, Max Verstappen guaranteed his name in the F1 Hall of Fame by winning the race. Max Verstappen equaled the Legendary Ayrton Senna’s win record as this win was his 41st win. Another reason that made the win special was the fact that it was Red Bull’s 100th win as a constructor. The Austrian team was in full swing and celebration mode. However, one of their backbones dropped a reality bomb shocking everyone on the team.

Adrian Newey is arguably the greatest aerodynamicist to ever design an F1 car. The Briton has designed 13 championship-winning cars during his F1 career and the Canadian GP win was his 200th for a car designed by him. However, Newey isn’t getting any younger and is already 64. Despite recently renewing his contract with Red Bull, the duration of it is still unknown. Newey recently suggested that the countdown to his retirement has already begun which will probably send his team into a shock.

According to Motorsport.com, Adrian Newey said “I’m lucky enough to be doing what I have always wanted to do and enjoy the job. I’ve loved it. Of course, my career can’t go on forever, so I think as long as the team wants me and I keep enjoying it, I’ll keep going. But that’s got to be…realistically, it’s on a countdown. Exactly when that day is, I don’t know.”

Despite his full focus on building F1 cars, Adrian Newey did venture out to complete some other projects. The British Mastermind has written a book on designing cars. The name of the book is “How to Build a Car”. Newey was also responsible for designing the Aston Martin Valkyrie that almost bankrupted the British team. He’s also working on a hypercar built by Red Bull. Newey suggested he will move on to similar projects after ending his career in F1
