With the status, stand, and hold most F1 drivers have on their fans, it is almost frowned upon when they don’t use it for a cause. Many keep their head down and go about their business. However, fame has no limit, and somehow, sometime the drivers get roped into promoting something via social media. Not just drivers, however, entities close to the drivers also experience this fame and also go through similar motions. This is exactly what is happening with Kelly Piquet. The Brazilian model gets the limelight from F1 fans as well for being in a relationship with Max Verstappen. However, that’s not always a positive thing, let us explain with an example.

Currently, Kelly Piquet is facing a lot of backlash for her efforts to promote a brand helping the environment. The brand is supposedly helping keep plastic out of the ocean and spreading awareness of its efforts through the Brazilian model’s online presence. However, fans were quick to call Piquet out for possibly securing a big paycheque for her informative Instagram post.

Piquet quickly revealed she did not charge any money for the promotion as she believes in and supports the company’s efforts. However, a fan took to Twitter to call the daughter of the former champion Nelson Piquet to reflect on her life of privilege before making small efforts toward the environment.

The user pointed out how Nelson Piquet owns a Cessna 750 Citation X private jet which can cost up to $5.2 million.

This user’s criticism did not stop at the private jets. They even revealed the various areas where the Piquet family needs to make amends.

The user did not stop his personal attacks on the Piquet family on the private jets. The user also pointed out how the controversial Nelson Piquet is against the current Brazilian president who is making strides in environment-related issues.

Moreover, he also exposed the campaign Kelly Piquet is endorsing. For reference, every like, comment, and share on Piquet’s post until the 20th of August, Opp Swin would pledge to reduce one plastic bottle from the ocean. This was their claim on top of the 100,000 bottles the company was already removing from the ocean.

The Twitter user exposed this tactic. He tweeted, “Also, it’s been exposed multiple times that these campaigns mostly contribute to greenwashing instead of actually doing something about the environment. The brand and the celebrity involved gets good PR and nobody cares or asks about what they did in the campaign!”

We are not sure if this generalization applies to Piquet’s collaborative efforts as well. However, the Brazilian model is definitely getting hate for it.
