Max Verstappen has had a stupendous 2022 season. The recently crowned world champion has been much faster than last year, amassing a record-breaking point tally this season. The Dutchman’s performance this year could dig a hole in his pocket as FIA will make him pay as high as $1000k.

With this year’s extraordinary performance, Verstappen will have to pay an enormous sum to the governing body. The Red Bull driver has broken the longstanding record of 13 wins in a season. He has also surpassed the milestone of 413 points, a record that previously belonged to Sir Lewis Hamilton.

Summarizing the scenario, the Red Bull driver will pay approximately $983k, which makes it the biggest tax payment registered till now in sports history. Every driver pays a base amount of $10k at the end of the season for the super license renewal fee. Additionally, they are also obliged to pay around $2k for each point gained in the Driver’s Championship standings.

Max Verstappen’s total taxation could increase by another $108k if he continues his dominance, takes the checkered flag first, and gets the fastest lap bonus for the next two races. Should he claim all 60 points up for grabs, the total amount could be nearly $1000k. However, according to the report, the Red Bull team is likely to pay Max Verstappen the bonuses for every point he bags.
