“Everyone is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans.” Sebastian Vettel said it. We agree with it. However, have you wondered how true is this statement? Well, according to the recent comments of Max Verstappen, it’s a genuinely true statement. The Dutchman is a loyal Red Bull servant. However, every F1 driver’s first priority is themselves and Verstappen is no different. This is exactly why the Dutchman gave the Italian team some conditional hope for his signature in the future.

Verstappen is locked for life with Red Bull, or at least till 2028. When his contract ends, he will be a 31-year-old and be racing in F1 for 13 years and has often hinted he might quit. However, speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by Rosso Motori will not blindly follow Red Bull into his twilight years. The Dutchman will only remain with the Austrian team if he gets enough stimuli and drives a competitive enough car. The other option? He would like to become a part of the Ferrari heritage if they can provide him with a worthy vehicle.

“It will also depend on how competitive we will be between now and 2028. I think it would be difficult to leave with a dominant project. I’m often asked if I have a dream team – I know Ferrari has a unique history in Formula 1. It’s a team it would be great to race for. However, I’ve always told myself that I just want to be in the fastest car,” said Verstappen. (Translated by Google)

So far, Ferrari hasn’t given Red Bull enough reasons to sweat about losing the Dutchman. However, in the fickle sport of F1, anything can happen and the 2026 regulatory changes might bring a twist to this fairytale. However, if both Ferrari and Red Bull fail to provide a desirable project, Verstappen already knows what he wants to do.

Every racing driver has a list of races they would like to test themselves in, apart from their core sport. Verstappen has a similar list which includes two of the most prestigious races in the world of motorsport. In fact, he would like to make a mark in those races as well and not race just to fulfill his dream.

“I like to win, to be competitive, but if you can’t fully motivate yourself to go to every race then you have to ask yourself if you really want to continue. I love the 24 Hours of Le Mans and endurance racing, I love watching the GT3 cars go round the Nurburgring. These are all things I want to try in my life and I don’t want to do them when I’m 40 or 50, because then I won’t be at my peak performance anymore. When I’m 31, I’m pretty convinced I’m still capable of great things,” said Verstappen.
