Max Verstappen has recently opened up on his 2022 rivals. The Dutchman has voiced his concern about the potential title contenders this season. Apart from Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, Max thinks that the Ferraris got a good chance at the championship this year.

F1 is in Bahrain for the yearly pre-season testing. The teams have brought everything they could to showcase and test their new season upgrade. The testing will last from March 10 till March 12.

Among other teams, Red Bull Racing was also out with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for the testing. However, the Milton-Keynes-based team hasn’t shown any major upgrade on the first day of testing.

Talking about the rivalry for the new season, Verstappen had an interview with Sky Sport. When asked if Lewis will be his only strong rival this season, the F1 defending champion has conveyed, “I don‘t think so, Ferrari also looks strong this year, at least now in the tests. It is difficult to judge the others. Some teams still get some upgrades before the first race.”
Besides Mercedes, which team impressed Max Verstappen?
Ferrari launched their brand new F1-75 challenger for 2022. And it has taken everyone by surprise. The Maranello-based team was pretty impressive during their testing in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. The Italian team finished in P3 last season and will look forward to improving their performance this time around.

In regard to his main contenders, Lewis and Mercedes, Max has also asserted that he’s not at all worried.
Mercedes made a major upgrade this season. The new W13 came with virtually no side-pods at all. The side-pods are ultra-narrow and practically non-existent.

As for his team Red Bull, Verstappen teased that there will be some upgrades coming for the RB18 on Day 2 and Day 3. With Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari to showcase their enhancements in the days to come, it’ll be interesting to see how this testing turns out to be.
