“Art meets reality” when we start to observe things around us more closely. As is also the case with Formula 1 and Pixar movie “Cars.” Max Verstappen is now reprising the role of Lightning McQueen in real life since his rise as the grid’s boss and as the one who dethrones the former boss, King, aka Lewis Hamilton. Much like King, who slowly came to accept McQueen’s dominance, so is the case with Lewis, who has come to terms with the paddock’s reality.
Lewis Hamilton has been attempting to put up a brave fight but acknowledges that he and his team aren’t where they’d want themselves to be. He has shown as much faith in Max Verstappen as he has shown in himself and the team. This itself sounds like a tremendous boost for the Dutchman ahead of the season, as Lewis and his team appear to be on their knees and at the mercy of luck.
As quoted by the Mirror, the Mercedes driver said, “I think Max will be very, very confident. I don’t think he’ll slip up. He’s a world champion. I wouldn’t question his determination or his focus. It’s our job to catch up,” as the reality has started to slowly sink in for the Brackley-based outfit.

However, with an improved car, especially one that doesn’t bounce, Mercedes‘ chances of improving are quite high. But reaching the level of Red Bull? The team itself hasn’t shown much confidence in that department.

The battles between Verstappen and Hamilton have always been merciless, even last year when the Briton didn’t even have a competitive car. So, with a better chariot for himself, Lewis can challenge Max more than he or his team did last year. This has also forced Max Verstappen to consider his 2021 arch-nemesis as a potential threat to steal away his title.
As quoted by Sky Sports, Max said, “He’s been one of the greatest drivers ever in the sport, so for sure if he has the car to do it, he can fight for the title again,” while mentioning other drivers as well. But he also mentioned handling pressure as crucial, something that Leclerc failed at last year and something that Lewis knows better than anyone.
