Max Verstappen recently won the inaugural Miami GP, flaunting his phenomenal driving skills. Undoubtedly, he’s one of the best drivers in F1 and has showcased his potential ever since he set his foot in the world of racing. And one of the best moments of his racing career unfolded in 2014 at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The media showed the reigning champion a very viral video of someone doing mind-blowing drifting. Max shared that he never did much drifting growing up when looking at the video. He said, “It is very impressive. I didn’t grow up drifting, so it’s a very different display.”

But then the Red Bull driver was shown a video from the 2014 Brazilian GP when the Dutchman drove the Jean-Éric Vergne’s Toro Rosso during a practice session. During the tricky session, Verstappen lost his grip, and it almost looked certain that the Toro Rosso was going to end up in the barriers. However, the Dutchman recovered from going out of the circuit with some fantastic drifting.
Max was impressed with his drifting. Because he reported how difficult it is to drift with an F1 car, “They are not designed to drift though. Like the steering lock we have is not enough to do a proper drift with no handbrake. It was not bad. For an F1 car, it’s alright.”
Max Verstappen wants a reliable RB18 for the title race
The reigning champion had DNFs in two out of the last five races. But it doesn’t mean they have a slow car as Max has also won three races. The 2022 Red Bull challenger RB18 has been struggling with reliability issues.

Apart from Max, his teammate Sergio Perez also suffered from the RB18’s reliability issues. He got eliminated in the Bahrain GP alongside Max, and then again, Checo had a sensor glitch in Miami. So, Perez could not pass Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz even with DRS.
The Red Bull ace now wants his team to look into the ever-haunting reliability factor and resolve them as soon as possible. “We’re still having a few issues we have to solve.” Verstappen further reported, “We have to make sure these things don’t happen… of course, we are working on them flat out.”
