Max Verstappen definitely isn’t the same when he’s on escapades outside of the F1 tracks. His confidence and stern remarks on the radio have frequently been mistaken for an act of “rude persona.” However, in reality, it’s exactly the opposite, as Max Verstappen recently decided to be a shoulder for the other Dutchman, Nyck de Vries, to cry on as he became the recent victim on whom the Red Bull swung their axe.
The 28-year-old Nyck de Vries finally had the opportunity to enter the world of motorsport this season after taking some hard blows from the stars. However, after the Silverstone GP, the Red Bull sibling team, AlphaTauri, decided to terminate him and hire Daniel Ricciardo in his place, ending his nightmarish season. And given that the Dutchman’s 10-race Formula 1 career was cut short abruptly in the middle of the season, he may have needed someone to cry on. And it appears that it was someone who stood by his side even before his debut.

Nyck de Vries was seen venting in France with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris after learning about being fired for a week. The drivers had a pastime before the Hungarian Grand Prix, and this time Verstappen and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet as well as the British driver decided to help de Vries in getting through this challenging period. Julia Piquet, the sister of Kelly Piquet, shared a photo on Instagram of her and her friends and family having a great time while swimming. There, Verstappen could be seen accompanied by Lando Norris and de Vries.
Although, from Nyck de Vries’ point of view, the decision to fire him was harsh, in actuality, the Dutchman’s performance didn’t live up to the expectations. Moving the argument along, Christian Horner explained why the sacking was done midway.

However, having such a strong relationship with the top Formula 1 star also couldn’t save him from losing his job. And following de Vries’ struggle to match the performance of teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Red Bull decided to replace him with Daniel Ricciardo. And in the F1 Nation podcast, Christian Horner revealed the reason for de Vries’ dismissal.
He said, “I think there was a general feeling that Nyck wasn’t quite hitting the mark. And from a Red Bull Racing perspective, the most interesting option for me was to see how Daniel performs. So that was the decision that was made. It all happened pretty quick and here he is for the Hungarian Grand Prix.”
