Max Verstappen is one of the most popular personalities in F1 right now. Although he might not be up there with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, his popularity has soared ever since his win at Abu Dhabi last year. Now, as he goes on to start the new season as defending champion, some cool things are waiting for him, he explains.

The 2021 F1 title gave Verstappen the much-needed global recognition. And with huge fame comes a great sense of expectations, so the level of pressure on him is titanic. However, The Dutchman is pretty relaxed in his approach. He didn’t face any trouble in the pre-season testing, both in Barcelona and Bahrain. In fact, Red Bull had a tremendous performance in the pre-season testing. Moreover, Max clocked up the fastest time on the third day of testing.

Since he’s a top athlete and also the #1 in the sport now, Verstappen might have plans of displaying special helmets for different GPs. The Red Bull star intends to have specially designed helmets for special occasions. The helmets are to be designed by his childhood friend.

Talking about this, Max has conveyed in Verstappen.com, “That has worked out very well for me: I don’t have to give much input, because he immediately chooses catchy designs and colors that suit a Grand Prix. Also this year we have a few special helmet designs coming up.”

Can Max Verstappen cope with the pressure and defend his title?

The 24-year-old has recently landed himself a $50 million per year contract with Red Bull. Last year’s driver’s championship has given ‘Super’ Max a much-needed impetus.

Apart from his personal gain, the man-in-form has fetched his team a massive sponsorship deal of over $500 million with the American software giant, Oracle.

As a globally renowned superstar, the pressure on him is immense. However, team principal Christian Horner said Max is absolutely down to earth and the same person who joined as a rookie.
