The third race of this season’s calendar is the next thing fans are looking forward to after a dramatic start to the season. But before the season even officially went underway, Ferrari were named favorites for 2022 and have proved their potential. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished 1-2 in Bahrain, followed by a double podium in Jeddah.
The changes in regulation ahead of this year meant the teams have changed the design of the cars, with some including Ferrari opting for huge side-pods. The new aerodynamics have so far been successful as they top both the drivers and constructors championships after two races. Amid all this, team Principal Mattia Binotto gave a hilarious reaction regarding the design of the side-pods in an interview.

The F1-75’s bulked-up side-pods have been a success as Ferrari looks like the team to beat in 2022. Mattia Binotto sat down with BILD to talk about the season. A question on Ferrari’s side-pods came up where the interviewer jokingly asked whether the aerodynamics team had many young fathers as the side-pods look like baby baths. And Binotto gave a hilarious reply to the question and revealed they have a nickname on it.

Speaking on the challenges, the Italian is optimistic about Ferrari’s chances this season. He said, “Keeping up the level on a long season is a challenge, not just for us but all the teams. But since then, in car design, we have improved our [wind] tunnel, technologies, processes and simulations and so today we are much better prepared than in the past to do a good job with development.”
