Everyone is eagerly waiting for Part 2 of the Lewis Hamilton-Max Verstappen rivalry. Throughout the championship, both drivers fought fight tooth and nail at every race of the season. Both the drivers had their elbows most of the season whenever they came to blows with each other. Verstappen did not hesitate for once, battling against Hamilton, while the Mercedes driver gave him room on most occasions.
The relationship between the drivers did get acrimonious from time to time, but there was underlying respect between them. With another potential Max-Lewis rivalry right around the corner, former F1 driver and Sky Sports journalist Martin Brundle has expressed how Lewis can come out ahead of Verstappen in the 2022 season.
Brundle gives his take on the Lewis Hamilton – Max Verstappen rivalry
Max fought Hamilton really hard throughout the 2021 season and was sometimes was remarkably aggressive with his driving style. According to Brundle, this was the reason behind the Red Bull driver’s success over the 7-time world champion.
However, he now believes that the Mercedes driver will beat Verstappen at his own game in the 2022 season.
“I think Lewis will come back with more determination than ever, and I think he’s going to have to get his elbows out with Max. In the end, Max’s aggressive driving won him the world championship as far as I’m concerned,” said the Formula 1 commentator.

“Everybody is going to have to play Max at his own game if they want to beat him. Mercedes and Lewis will be energized by that, but they’re going to have to go racing in a different and more aggressive way and play the same game – because Max isn’t going to change,” Martin added.

It would be fascinating to see Hamilton take the fight to Verstappen through this season. Will he be successful if he goes to Max’s wheelhouse of aggressive driving? That is yet to be seen.
