Lewis Hamilton has not been active on social media since the season finale in Abu Dhabi last month. The Mercedes driver lost the championship in a controversial fashion, which has left him feeling dejected from the sport. There have been many reports indicating that the 7-time world champion could even retire from the sport.

But former F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle believes Hamilton will return to F1 in 2022. Brundle mentioned it does not convince him that Lewis would retire from the sport in this manner.

I don’t buy any of it, to be honest: Brundle on Lewis Hamilton rumors

As reported by Planetf1, the former Benetton driver stated that he does not buy the whole Lewis retiring saga reported by the media. He also mentioned that he believes that Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton will be in contact every day regarding the issue.

“Absolutely not. I don’t buy any of it, to be honest. I’m sure Toto has been asked by Lewis, ‘what are you doing about this?’ But Formula 1 is fantastically successful for the Mercedes-Benz brand, while Lewis is 37 years old and we know he’s driving at his peak, incredibly determined and competitive. He’ll be back,” said Martin Brundle.

“If I was a Formula 1 boss and my driver came to me and said I don’t want to race anymore if that guy is staying around, I would immediately stop thinking about race control and thinking has my driver lost his motivation, which of course he hasn’t.

Lewis will be back, and he’ll be pressing the throttle ever harder,” said the former F1 driver.

No one will know the answer until Hamilton himself announces something. But it would be sad to see the Mercedes driver leave the sport in this manner. All fans can do is hope that he continues in 2022 and puts on another stellar season.
