Teams in F1 usually have control over the decisions made by two outfits – the head team as well as the sister team. And Red Bull are no different. Their sister team, AlphaTauri, usually functions as a training ground for their academy drivers who debut in F1. As a result, they have control, to some extent, over the latter’s driver lineup.
Given that the 2021 season is almost reaching it’s midway point, driver lineups for next year are a big question right now. But not for Red Bull, as Dr. Helmut Marko has stated that they want to retain all four of their drivers for 2022.
While their prodigy, Max Verstappen has put pen to paper till 2024, the Milton-Keynes-based outfit are now looking to extend Sergio Perez‘s contract for 2022.

Marko confirms that Red Bull will retain all their drivers for 2022
Speaking to RTL, Marko said, “We should be ready to announce our driver pairings for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri. In principle we want to maintain the existing pairings. But that takes time, because we include all relevant facts.”
Despite Tsunoda making rookie mistakes regularly, Marko is looking to retain the Japanese driver, saying “something will come of” his move to Italy.

The Milton-Keynes-based outfit are leading the constructor’s championship due to the performance of Verstappen and Perez. The Dutch driver has bagged five wins for the team while his Mexican teammate has clinched one win in Azerbaijan and a podium in France.
In the sister team, Gasly has managed to secure a podium by coming third in Baku, and Tsunoda has had his best result in the opening round in Bahrain where he placed ninth.
The season still has a long way to go, and all their drivers have had great progress this season. Hence, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see them behind the wheel next year as well.
