Max Verstappen won the Belgian Grand Prix in the most unexpected manner. The race was filled with delays and lengthy red flags periods because of heavy and consistent rain at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. In the end, the drivers completed two laps of the circuit and were awarded half points. Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko mentioned in his post-race interview that he was not completely pleased with the result.

We are not proud of this victory: Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko
As reported by Motorsport-total, Marko acknowledged the fact that he is happy that they got the victory but was satisfied by the manner of the win. He also sympathized with the fans and organizers of the track, as they could not put on a show for them.
“We are not proud of this victory,” said Marko.

“I think the organizer and those responsible tried everything to get the race off the stage so that the obligations are met with this compromise solution. But I don’t think it’s good that the audience was held off for so long. That would be the case can do at the beginning, “ said the Red Bull advisor.
But he mentioned he was happy that Max closed the gap to Lewis Hamilton in the championship. “We felt strong here. But better three points behind than no points at all. We’re not proud, but we’ll take it with us,” said Marko.

Toto Wolff states the results at Spa are annoying
Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff mentioned that he would have preferred if they had canceled the race completely rather than following the safety car. The results hurt the German team as Red Bull have cut down the deficit by 5 points.

“Not to start [was] definitely the right thing to do. This procedure behind the safety car could probably have been saved,” said Wolff. The Austrian was also not happy, with half points being rewarded at the end of the race. “Annoying, but that’s the rules,” said Wolff on half points.
Lewis Hamilton finished in P3 but still leads the championship by 3 points from Max. Mercedes are still 7 points ahead of Red Bull in the constructor’s championship.
