The McLaren’s garage, and in particular team head Zak Brown, has been in exactly the same frame of mind. After receiving harsh criticism from fans, Brown has finally breathed a sigh of relief. Team McLaren has reason to be happy after some of the season’s most challenging phases so far. Lando Norris qualified in third place at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, which is the best finish of the season. He will start his race on Sunday at P3, behind pole sitter Max Verstappen and crowd favorite Carlos Sainz. The outcome was unexpected for the entire squad, but their quick judgment allowed them to benefit from Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes’ blunders, which enabled Norris to take third place.

Charles Leclerc’s failure to advance to the Q2, followed by Checo Perez and George Russell’s failure to advance to the Q3, caused the event to proceed in a totally different manner.
When Lewis Hamilton finished his final flying lap, Norris was informed through the radio that he was still in third place.
