What goes up, must come down, and the highs of 8-consecutive world titles for the Mercedes have come down in the 2022 season as the team finds itself behind in the pecking order. Thus, forcing the hand of team boss, Toto Wolff to draw inspiration from the former man in charge of the team which is presently eyed by Elon Musk.

Recently, the Tesla CEO showed enthusiasm to invest in the English soccer club, Manchester United. He Tweeted, “Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome”

In top-flight soccer, Man Utd is the club with the richest heritage and it was under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson when the team peaked and raised 38 titles under his guidance. However, since his retirement in 2013, the Old Trafford outfit has fallen behind in the pecking order and has been struggling to return to winning ways.
As a result of this, Musk tweeted to give hope to the fans of the English team and be their knight in shining armor. Nevertheless, it might be the Mercedes team principal who requires a helping hand from the Tesla boss as he finds himself in uncharted waters under the new regulations of F1.

Since 2013, it is habitual for the Brackley outfit to sip on bubbly and take home the maximum points from every race. Even though the Austrian boss is still directing the operations at Mercedes, he is left with no answers, which forced him to study the work of the Man Utd legend.

Ferguson, in his 26 years tenure in the Premier League, changed the face of the sport with a new benchmark for success. Along the same lines, Wolff is the second most successful boss in F1 history and has raised the bar in the premier racing league. In an interview with Financial times, he shares his learning from the English soccer club’s run of success.

“I studied why great teams were not able to repeat great title [runs],” said Wolff while referring to Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.
“No sports team in any sport has ever won eight consecutive World Championship titles and there are many reasons for that, and what is at the core is the human. The human gets complacent. You are not energized in the same way you were before. You are maybe not as ambitious.”

He said, “We are still the same group of people with the same ambition, energy, tools, funding. Maybe we need to tweak here and there because psychology plays an important role, but I believe this team has all it needs to be successful but with no sense of entitlement. I want this to be a blip and not a longer-term phase of not being able to compete at the front.”
