Haas has been a unique team in F1 ever since its inception in 2016. Many aspects of Haas are unpredictable. No one knows what this American outfit will do every year. Suddenly, the drivers may change and their car may be a backmarker. And the following year, a former driver comes back to take a top 5 finish in the season opener! Such has been the merry-go-round of sponsors as well for Haas F1. Apparently, its latest sponsor also has some whacky aspects about its business.

According to the DRS Podcast, Palm Angels is sponsoring Haas’s team this year. Palm Angels is a fashion apparel brand that has some insanely expensive products. Several clothing apparels on this website have prices shooting through the roof!

The DRS podcast hosts noticed this brand on Haas’s 2023 car livery on the side-on angle. The hosts further were stunned to see the pricing of many clothing and accessories on the Palm Angels website.

They said, “Under the Men’s section, there is one shirt that’s got a shark on it. I want the shark shirt. It’s $1200! The socks are $75! If I put $75 on my feet, they better be the softest socks I touched.”

Shelling out $1200 for a shirt is certainly a big amount. Similarly, there is a flame-themed jacket at $3300. And a Teddy Bear at $310! Still, the company made a revenue of $6.4 million. So, there are customers paying such premium prices.

The DRS podcast hosts were questioning who got a brand like Palm Angels on Haas’s car. They stated, “All I want to know is Who hooked this up? Was it Guenther Steiner who was like: I love this brand and I want them on the car?” It’s unlikely that Guenther Steiner who keeps a basic style sense may initiate this deal with a whacky fashion brand.

Steiner managed to swoon a lot of fans on Valentine’s day with a special video. So, we never know he would have liked the $310 Teddy Bear for gifting purposes. Either way, Haas has continued its history with outlandish sponsors and partners in 2023 as well.

Haas & It’s History of Whacky Partnerships in F1

When Haas’s team entered in F1, they had a low-key presence in the paddock. The owner Gene Haas’s companies were the primary partners and sponsors this small American outfit ran on its cars. Although, this scenario changed in 2019. A British Energy drinks brand called Rich Energy ruined the team’s image badly.

Rich Energy had been facing controversies even before it partnered with Haas F1. Especially, there were questions about the brand’s operations and trademarks. And when they took control of Haas, it changed a lot for the team’s image.

Rich Energy was all over Haas’s cars with livery and the team’s operations, too. It also made a comedic saga that ended even before the 2019 season came to a conclusion. This made Guenther Steiner’s team take a step back too, as they lost huge sponsorship money amid these legal tussles.

Post that, 2020 was another low-key season without much sponsor fuss. Although, when it’s Haas, the soap opera drama will return in some form. In 2021, it was the Mazepin family and their company Uralkali. As Nikita Mazepin made his F1 debut, his father’s company sponsored the American team.

It also made the team look quite different. But, as things panned out with the geopolitical situations in the world, Haas had to split with Mazepin and Uralkali before the 2022 season began. Once again, the American team is in the same spot this year with another new Title sponsor in MoneyGram.

Alongside Palm Angels, if this MoneyGram partnership can last long, it would be a blessing in disguise for Guenther Steiner and Co. They would hope that these new sponsors help Haas grow in F1 rather than setting them back with déjà vu!
