Lando Norris has perhaps endured his first tough season in Formula 1. Despite him finishing a decent P7 in the WDC, Norris, and McLaren failed to beat Alpine in the constructor’s championship. The Briton was understandably unhappy and he let his frustrations known to the Papaya team.

For the second time in a row, he beat his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Norris also stood on the podium once this season in Imola. However, that’s about it among the positives this season for the Briton. McLaren, like Mercedes, failed to capitalize on the new regulations and started the season on a terrible note.
The damage was already done by then, as Alpine took a stronghold in the WCC. The Woking-based team did fight back but couldn’t beat the French constructors. Moreover, Lando Norris also said that the MCL36 was not his best F1 car.
Norris said, “There has been a bigger push than ever from my side to request things in that direction.” Lando further mentioned, “This year has been the furthest away from what I want.”
The Briton concluded, “At the end of the day, I always say give me the quickest car and I feel like I will be able to drive that rather than driving one that does suit me. It is easy to make a car that suits me but is not always quick.”

One podium was not good enough for McLaren’s Lando Norris after a difficult season
The Imola GP brought much-needed relief for the Papaya team as Lando Norris finished on the podium. It would turn out to be the only podium scored by a team whose name wasn’t Red Bull, Ferrari, or Mercedes. After a poor start to the season, the podium finish felt like a huge win for McLaren.
However, Lando Norris has called out McLaren saying that one is not good enough. The young Briton wants to regularly fight for the podium finishes and feels finishing on the podium once is just lucky.

Norris stated, “A podium always means something. It means something to me, means something to the team. But one isn’t enough. One is like, we got lucky, and all of this stuff.”
The McLaren driver further added, “You want to feel like you deserve to be there every time and we deserved to be there for sure. We weren’t quick enough to be there. We were kind of way ahead of where we deserve to be. But yeah, one time isn’t enough for me. It’s not a good enough job by the whole team.”
