The current Formula 1 season has been an absolute rollercoaster ride so far. There are a lot of positives and negatives to take from the current campaign. However, there is one aspect of the season that will be etched into our memories; the retirement announcement of Sebastian Vettel.
The four-time F1 championship-winning German will hang up his helmet after the current season. In a career spanning 15 years, Sebastian Vettel has amassed immeasurable glory. The 53 race wins, 122 podiums, and four back-to-back championships with Red Bull make him one of the best. Hence, he may have no regrets when he looks back at his career. Right?

In conversation with CNN’s Amanda Davies, as always, Sebastian Vettel spoke his mind and gave a glimpse into the bleak reality. The Aston Martin driver said, “For the racing, for what I have achieved on the track. But then that will be forgotten one day because there’s new kids, they’re really doing great and they will continue to do great. And then there will be new kids again.”
“So, hopefully, we’ll have some girls and women in the future as well. I don’t think I need to be remembered and I’m not offended if people forget me in this regard. So I think I’m happy with what I have achieved, but it’s normal that time goes on and there’s new heroes to be celebrated.”

Out of sight, out of mind, is the natural law. However, the humble German might be underestimating his contribution and influence on the world of Formula 1.
Every time Sebastian Vettel has brought an issue to light or spoken his mind about the things he’s passionate about, he’s made a difference. Moreover, many fans believe the German will continue making a difference long after his retirement.

Sebastian Vettel has always been outspoken and passionate about the issue of global warming. There are suggestions that after his retirement, he will use his platform to spread awareness about global warming and its adversity.
Formula 1 is also actively taking steps to ensure fewer carbon emissions and to make the sport more environmentally friendly. The sport will introduce new regulations that will tackle this issue head-on from the 2026 season onwards.

This could present a rare opportunity for Sebastian Vettel to spread awareness and stay associated with F1 simultaneously. It’s wishful thinking but all fans would love to see more of Vettel on the forefront fighting the fight for global warming.
