Lewis Hamilton has not been active on social media nor given any public statement since losing the world championship in the season finale in December. The Mercedes driver lost the championship in a dramatic fashion because of a controversial decision made by the race director. Interestingly, Dutch driver Jeroen Bleekemolen believes that Lewis’s silence is a political move on his part.
There has been an outcry from the Hamilton fans to sack the current race director Michael Masi. But despite the Mercedes team’s protest to overturn the decision, Max Verstappen was crowned world champion at the end of the season. Hamilton has not spoken to the media since the race, and many people have claimed that the seven-time world champion might retire due to the result.

“I think he wants to get some people out of there, like race director Michael Masi. Lewis wants to turn it upside down and he can do that. He has a lot of influence as ‘the greatest of all. At some point, you have to put setbacks aside. That suits a great champion.” said Bleekemolen.
It is certainly an interesting take on Lewis’s silence. But it is hard to see if his silence could lead to Michael Masi losing his job. Admittedly, the events at Abu Dhabi have left a sour taste as far as F1 fans are concerned.

But FI will announce the results just before the first race of the 2022 season. So it is still unclear whether or not Hamilton will race next season.
