It’s been one week since Formula 1’s summer break started, and Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has already injured himself. It’s about time he realizes the summer-break-and-lethal-sport combination doesn’t go well for him because this is the second time he’s gotten into a cycling incident during F1’s summer break. The only saving grace this time is that his injuries seem less severe, but that doesn’t make his case for riding bikes any better among his fans.

In an Instagram post, Wolff’s wife, Susie Wolff, shared on her feed, Toto Wolff is seen walking hand in hand with his son. But aside from the cuteness of the picture, his left arm covered in a cast caught everyone’s attention and made fans wonder what happened. Susie Wolff’s caption cleared it up as she wrote, “Action packed start to the summer holidays. Last picture shows how the downhill mountain biking ended for Toto… 🫤”

Although the injury didn’t seem too severe, and Toto was in good spirits, that didn’t stop fans from comparing his 2014 incident with what happened now. During F1’s 2014 summer break, Wolff was involved in a cycling pile-up with other members of the Mercedes team as they cycled along the Danube River in Hungary. Wolff had a fractured right wrist, elbow, collarbone, and shoulder. Seeing as the common link between both incidents was Toto’s bike, a Twitterati posted pictures of Toto after both incidents and captioned it, “Can someone take his bike away from him please.”

Toto Wolff needs to be “wrapped in bubble wrap”

Despite showing their concern for Wolff, many fans couldn’t help but find a few silver linings regarding Wolff’s current mobility restrictions. While most were regarding his left hand, some users had wittier remarks about his situation.

Most fans wrote how, this time, it was his left arm that faced the consequences of his cycling adventures, making a fan exclaim, “Lucky him.”

Another fan pointed out how Toto still hasn’t realized that he and cycling aren’t a good combination.

One fan even mentioned how they want to cover Toto in “Silver Arrows” bubble wrap.

In the 2021 season finale, when Michael Masi enabled Max Verstappen to line up right behind Lewis Hamilton for the championship-deciding lap, Wolff said, “No Michael, no. This is so not right.” In reference to that statement, one user wrote a witty response.
