In his 16 years in F1, Lewis Hamilton has amassed millions of fans worldwide and made friends with who’s who. However, when it comes to his own neighbors, they probably don’t see eye to eye. The champion driver was in a long face-off with his London neighbors that went as far as authorities getting involved. The council’s verdict has arrived now, and they have ruled in the F1 sensation’s favor.

The present verdict has come about the dispute regarding Hamilton’s property in London. However, his relationship with the residents of his old neighborhood, Stevenage, isn’t any good either. Lewis has never shied away from speaking up about the tough childhood he had while growing up in Stevenage. The residents of the area loved the fact that one of their own was taking the world by storm with his talents. However, no love remained once he called the place “slums” only to immediately take it back. Even his babysitter of the time described what a happy childhood he had growing up in the area.

Hamilton, according to the Sun, bought his London property in 2017 for 18 million pounds ($21.66 million). Ever since then, he was seeking permission to “prune” two giant poplar trees that, reportedly, towered over his garden. His neighbors were against it as they felt the “magnificent heritage trees” were “easily identifiable upon approach to Heathrow”. Apart from the “pruning” of the trees, the $285 worth man (according to Celebrity Net Worth) also sought permission to install a metal gate and demolish and replace his old summerhouse. The neighbors feared disturbance from the demolition and construction noises. However, the council permitted Hamilton to carry out the work during the weekdays. Work can continue on Saturday only if they deem it essential.

Hamilton and his love for parties is no secret to the internet. Therefore, it did not come as a surprise when he started the construction of a summer house in his garden. However, his neighbors sent letters, objecting to it, claiming that he wanted to turn the place into a “party house”.

In a 2020 article from The Sun, they quoted one resident of the neighborhood as saying, “It certainly does not need another house at the rear of its garden, which, if the owner ever does move in, will no doubt be used as a ‘party house’ away from the main residence, due to the nature of his lifestyle.
