After the first two races in the current campaign, Red Bull is winning the early prediction polls. However, two races out of 23 do not reveal the champions. The Ferrari of 2022 is proof of that and even though Red Bull seems strong, the fight is still on. Charles Leclerc is of the same understanding as the Ferrari man, who is optimistic about the team’s championship challenge. However, his comments about the same got a brutal reaction from fans across Twitter.

When asked by Sky Sports about Ferrari’s chances as the champion in the current season, Leclerc initially talked about Ferrari’s current standing. He said, “Of course, it is! – We need to be realistic with ourselves and the way it is now. We are far away from the performance we want to be but that doesn’t mean we need to demotivate ourselves.”

However, he also revealed his optimism and said, “The season is long. We have quite a bit of upgrades coming in the next few races. Hopefully, this will help us to close the gap to Red Bull, that is for now in another league. But also Aston Martin is strong in some races so. We need to work, this we know! But in no way we think that the title is out of reach. It’s still early on in the season.”

Leclerc, in the recent past, communicated that Italian needs to improve in all areas. However, in this conversation with Sky Sports, Leclerc showcased a positive outlook toward the current season. Too positive, even whimsical, according to the fans.

Fans gave Charles Leclerc a brutal reality check on Twitter following his comments

The fans instantly started mocking the Monegasque as the Sky Twitter account posted the interview. Optimism aside, the current state of Ferrari does not prove the team is anywhere near winning races, let alone the championship. This is exactly what the fans pointed out as well.

One user even brutally tweeted, “Charles, is livin in a fantasy world, mate.” to his comment. The general theme of the reactions was the same among most fans.
