Looks like Lewis Hamilton has found himself in the middle of a Twitter war as the LH44 army is trying to defend their hero. The Mercedes ace was noticeably absent from this year’s Secret Santa video. Subsequently, fans caused a major uproar on the social media platform about Lewis not participating along with the rest of the F1 grid.
The Secret Santa competition is completely optional and the drivers can choose to participate or not. However, some people called out the 7-time world champion for missing it in the last few years. F1 hosts a Secret Santa event every year. Here, drivers are asked to pull out random names from a hat to determine who they will be shopping for before the final race of the season.
The event allows drivers to demonstrate how well they know their colleagues on the grid. It also allows the pilots to banter and be creative with their gifts.

The way people are demanding answers about why Lewis doesnt do workplace secret Santa like hes committed a crime is odd. Funny when the drivers dont wanna talk about humanitarian issues/ take the knee, freedom of choice is understood. But some fans draw the line at secret Santa

The people asking why Lewis didn’t do the secret Santa must be new fans because I’m sure the last one he did was in 2017 or something.
Why do you care that he didn’t do it? He doesn’t need a magnificent reason to not want to participate, simply not wanting to is reason enough— Stefan⁴⁴ (@__SteF1) December 20, 2022
Meanwhile, anti-Hamilton fans also let their opinions known.

What do you make of the incident? Should Lewis have participated in the event?
Which present was the best this season?
McLaren’s Lando Norris gifted Yuki Tsunoda the “best present” he’s ever received in life. Norris gave the Japanese driver a framed picture of him and his teammate and close friend Pierre Gasly. The duo share a great bond together and have created a lot of good memories in their time with AlphaTauri.
Pierre Gasly showed his 6th sense as he guessed his gift, a Monopoly set, even before opening the same. Subsequently, the French driver also took a cheeky dig at Alonso, who gifted him the present. He said, “Well, thank you very much Fernando! On top of giving me his car, he gives me Monopoly as well!”
