Hope is an emotion that propels you toward ambitions. This philosophy seems to be helping Lewis Hamilton and Co. since the team, which has recently been through an uphill battle, has seen a light at the end of the tunnel, and it indicates that good news is on the way for Hamilton and his supporters. Mercedes is continuing to advance up each ladder in preparation for the upcoming races, but with their present standing at 247 and second in the constructors standing, they are not gunning for the top spot. Instead, they have ambitious targets. However, before we go there, we should understand what has so far been Hamilton and Co’s darkest dread.
Despite the team’s years of success, the regulations seem to have impacted them particularly hard. Due to significant bouncing, the Brackley-based squad’s performance the previous season was mediocre. German manufacturers were forced to drive very low to the operating window granted by the governing body, which caused undesirable porpoising. Speaking specifically of this year, the FIA raised the minimum ride height for the car, which ultimately benefited the W-14 and helped the team move up to P2 currently.

Mercedes chose a conservative approach when developing their W-14 given the team’s downward spiral, i.e. putting the riding height first and foremost. And now, rather than driving excessively low, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have a car with an excessive amount of ride height. As per Motorsports. total chief Technical Officer Mike Elliott said, “If you deviate from your path of developing a car for high or low driving heights, but want to cover all areas, then you do three test drives a week and you don’t get anywhere. That’s why you have to decide on a direction and stick to it.”
However, the team now knows the right formula to create a potent W-15 after going to extremes in both years. In light of that, Mike Elliott, who shares this conviction, believes there is light at the end of the tunnel, Elliot continued by explaining, ” And then, once you’ve learned something, you can tweak that direction and change it slightly. I think we’ve moved in the right direction for the winter.”
Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have never abandoned the positive outlook as a defining characteristic. While the team’s CTO has suggested there is light at the end of the tunnel, we can recall the statement from Lewis Hamilton who had raised the banners of optimism to the highest degree this year.
Lewis Hamilton reveals his Mercedes plans
As stated by each team member, Lewis Hamilton is the team’s driving influence. He was also the one to push the team during their difficult period last year. However, despite being fully aware of the fact that Max Verstappen and the team have outperformed the Silver Arrows this season, the Mercedes Maestro has maintained optimism at its highest level.
When Hamilton was asked if he could beat Red Bull, after the Belgian GP, although he accepted the side might not chase Red Bull, they probably can win the race. While talking on Formula1 1.com, the Briton said, “At the moment, I’m not quite sure we can currently compete with [Red Bull] on race pace. But never say never.”

Later, by revealing the plans of the Silver Arrows for the second phase, the Mercedes maestro said, “My full focus is on to try and secure second for the team. It’s been a huge amount of progress over the season so far and hoping that there’ll be a lot more in the second phase.”
