Ever since 2021, Lewis Hamilton has been relentlessly hunting down that elusive 8th world championship. And while his Mercedes team has been regularly clawing some performance back, the distance Red Bull has put between themselves and the rest of the grid is only making matters worse. But with time running out on his F1 career, the Brit, in a bid of desperation, asked the FIA to intervene in his quest to defeat Max Verstappen.
The 7x champion was recently quoted as saying, “The FIA should probably put a time when everyone is allowed to start on the next year’s car. So then no one gets an advantage on the next year.” This comes after news that Red Bull has already abandoned the RB19 to focus on 2024. Well, they’ve earned that privilege with the domination they’ve been showing so far. Many have seen this as a sly power game initiated by the Brit, including Verstappen.

There’s no love lost between the 38-year-old and the Dutch lion. The duo hasn’t really seen eye-to-eye ever since the 2021 F1 season, except for when they have delivered jabs to the other through the media.
Verstappen was asked about Hamilton's comment, who stated that it is unfair that Red Bull can already focus on the 2024 car and believes that there should be a minimum date after which teams can start working on the next car:

After Hamilton’s comments caught the attention of the 2x champion, Verstappen quickly retorted with a reply to shut the Brit down. When asked about his feelings on Hamilton’s plea, he simply replied, “Life is not fair, not only in Formula 1.”
Verstappen’s camp seems to have raged an all-out war against Hamilton, and this was just an isolated bullet.

Back in 2021, Horner was quoted by The Sun as saying, “Max and Lewis stand out for me but, while we should definitely not be blind to what Hamilton has achieved, he does have a good package at his disposal. At Mercedes, a Williams driver can qualify himself directly on the front row and [George] Russell almost won the race.”
“However, if at Red Bull someone has to get into Verstappen’s car, for example if Max had corona, then nobody will reach his level.”
