During a press conference, Fernando Alonso was asked about what he wanted from Liberty Media, who were taking over F1 at that point. He replied, “Equal engines for everyone,” with his former teammate Lewis Hamilton adding, “And not Honda. I’m kidding…”. While nobody thought they’d see the other side of this banter, 2023 seems full of possibilities. And Hamilton, who has won 103 Grands Prix, is being outperformed by his teammate, George Russell, who has only won one.
Lewis Hamilton came into the 2022 season campaign to claim the 8th title that was taken away from him. But the sad Mercedes history tells us that W13 went down in the history as their worst creation. While that stands true, another bitter truth is that Hamilton hasn’t been able to become one with the cars being produced under the 2022 regulations. This has given his teammate, George Russell, a place in the record books for the fact that he beat the mighty Lewis Hamilton. Since Alonso never shies away from taking some shine off of Hamilton’s illustrious career, he has thrown in his New Year party buddy in the statistics this time.
As quoted by Danz, Fernando said, “With a normal car you can see that Lewis has weaknesses. Before he didn’t compete against anyone or sometimes with his teammate. He is the driver with the most pole positions in history and George Russell beats him 2-0 in the standings this season… and not he has forgotten to drive”.

“This Red Bull is the fastest car I’ve ever seen” said Lewis Hamilton when he was overtaken at Jeddah. And Fernando, who always likes to poke fun at the Briton was quick enough to deny that.
Fernando said, “I don’t agree. In Arabia I finished 20 seconds behind Checo and Max. He and Rosberg were one minute ahead of all of us in 2014 and 2015. After two or three laps they protected their engines and dropped performance. He has a short memory, he will be getting older,”
