Could Lewis Hamilton stay at Mercedes for his 400th race? Who knows? Maybe he can or maybe he can’t, but the Silver Arrows will be keen on keeping him either way. With the driver’s experience in the world of motorsports, he might be able to stretch his time in F1 further, much like Fernando Alonso.

The French GP was a testament to Hamilton’s driving capabilities. The W13, despite not being at the same mark as a Red Bull, secured two podium places. And that’s because Hamilton managed to negate an early threat from Sergio Perez.
When Lewis was quizzed after the race, “Toto was asked yesterday whether you’d be able to get to 400 races… He said there was a discussion a few weeks ago where there was an agreement that you could do 5, 10 years!”, the seven-time world champion, reacted as if he was amused by the question.

In astonishment, the Mercedes driver bulged his eyes out and later confessed “That’s a lot of races!..”. Actually, the Briton himself looked pretty surprised, and neither confirmed nor denied the news, but did mention that discussions will take place.
It’s clear that the team wants him and might extend his contract at some point. It is worth noting that Hamilton has managed consecutive podiums now, despite struggling heavily with the car.

After winning seven world championships, one would feel that Hamilton is done with F1. But deep down, he still wants to keep going in some ways. He said, “I firstly just want to be grateful to get to this point. But I still feel fresh and still feel like I’ve got plenty of fuel left in the tank. So, I’m enjoying what I’m doing…”
The driver further congratulated his team and believes that they’re headed in the right direction. Although the British driver wants to be a part of the sport in the future, many don’t feel it would be limited to being a driver.
