The circuits, the fans, and the FIA are all fond of Lewis Hamilton. However, it is surprising to learn that even Hamilton’s rival admires the seven-time champion. You might be wondering, how is that possible? Hamilton has raced alongside numerous F1 drivers over the course of his spectacular 16-year career. And more often than not, the Mercedes star has been embroiled in rivalries rather than just becoming friends with them. On the list of his oldest nemesis comes the name of Fernando Alonso, who seems to have come back in a renewed vigor to haunt the Englishman.

Ted Kravitz rated Alonso higher than Hamilton

Both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso endured hardships on F1 tracks the previous season. Both the ex-Mclaren drivers arrived at the Bahrain pre-season testing to have brought a change in their fortunes. While on one side Hamilton finishes second on the last day, Alonso appeared to have impressed the analysts and experts a little more.

Some of us might have assumed it was a bluff when Toto Wolff recently revealed that Aston Martin has every chance of coming in second. However, Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz leveled a severe claim against Lewis Hamilton. Now, it seems we can end up witnessing another Hamilton and Alonso on-track battle. According to the motorsports.com Turkey version, sky sports reporter Ted Kravitz said, “If the Bahrain GP had been on the last day of testing, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso would have been on the podium. Alonso would have been ahead of Ferrari and Mercedes.”

When we hear these words, our thoughts immediately flashback to when both drivers were teammates at McLaren. After Hamilton’s victory against Alonso in the Canadian Grand Prix, things at the Woking-based garage began to boil up. However, many of the close races during that season continued, and in 2008, Alonso moved on to a subpar Renault. Alonso hasn’t engaged in any on-track battle with the Spaniard since then. But now that the Silverstone-based team is looking good, it might bring all the memories flooding back to Sir Lewis Hamilton.

Last year, Lewis Hamilton entered the 300-GP club, which already includes double champion, Fernando Alonso. Just prior to that race, Hamilton revealed to Sky Sports, who he believed to be his toughest competitor. He said, “I remember the task of being alongside Fernando when I was 22. I was so young mentally and of course, OK in terms of skill, but it’s a lot of pressure to go against a great like him. So I would say out of pure pace, I think… I always say [my toughest opponent] is Fernando and his ability.”
