Almost every Formula 1 fan is aware of how Lewis Hamilton started his racing days. For those who aren’t aware, the Briton started racing in remote control cars when he was just six years old. Now, as a new podcast surfaced on the internet, a story of another F1 prodigy has come out who followed Hamilton’s footsteps.

Oscar Piastri, the new McLaren recruit, has recently opened up on how he started racing in his childhood. The man from Land Down Under conveyed that remote control cars were the first cars he drove. This is much like how the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton started his journey.
Piastri, who had the aid of his father, much like Hamilton in the initial days, stated, “I was like I think six or seven years old originally it was me and my dad, we started racing off-road like electric remote control cars.”

Piastri opened up about this during the recent PitStop podcast hosted by Jake and Fabio. However, Piastri later informed that they were remote control cars, powered by Nitro fuel. From there, he later shifted to on-road racing.
Lewis Hamilton started his racing career with remote control cars
Lewis Hamilton, the man with seven F1 world titles, started his racing days with remote control cars as well. Who would have thought that the child with a remote in his hand will prove to be one of the best drivers on the planet?

In a BBC video that surfaced on the internet back in 2007, the narrator stated, “Lewis started racing remote control cars when he was six. By the time he was eight, he mastered Go-Karts and could reach 70 miles an hour.”
From racing remote control cars and Go-Karts to becoming a world champion, Hamilton has come a long way. The child who initially won RC races competing against adults later won races and world titles going against veterans in F1.
