Lewis Hamilton drove the “most complete lap” in Singapore 2018, scoring a pole position and staying over a second clear of the rest of the field. While the man can be termed as a magician behind the wheels, he doesn’t have a lot of love for using them. Hamilton has time and again reiterated that he doesn’t like driving the W14 and cannot become one with it. And a similar emotion for driving in a touring car. And all because of his childhood ride.
Mr. Bean the series the actor playing it, Rowan Atkinson has a British foundational element, and if you think that is the common factor between the show and Lewis Hamilton, the 7x champ has shared another insight into an intriguing commonality. It is the Mini Cooper. However, did you know why he doesn’t like driving even the fastest road cars?
The answer to that is simple, the man doesn’t like traffic. Even though it is hard to believe knowing what Lewis pulled off in the 2020 Turkish GP, winning the race and title coming from the back of the grid and maneuvering through traffic, it is the truth.

As quoted by Express, Lewis told Fox Sports, “I don’t like driving. People always ask but no, I don’t like to drive, unless it’s fast. My father loves to drive, but in my case, I’d rather give the keys to someone else. I don’t like traffic, it’s very stressful for me.”
“When I get home, I have an old Mini Cooper, like Mr. Bean’s. I take it to the city where I grew up and I drive through places that bring back memories like my school, my first home. Nobody expects me to be in that car, I assure you.”
While Lewis has declared that he doesn’t like driving off-track, his on-track adventures haven’t been going in his favor for months now. And that makes us wonder if this is it for him.

At least he won’t do it on short notice, is what the boss of Silver Arrows believes. While Wolff has openly declared that he has no Plan B and Lewis is it, the 7x champ’s contract with the German team comes to an end at the end of the 2023 season campaign. But Wolff has made it clear that he doesn’t even want to engage in discussion with other drivers.
In an interview with Autosport, as quoted by Racingnews365, Wolff said, “I think it may sound naïve, but I really struggle to think of a Plan B, if my Plan A is still the one that is my favorite. I don’t want to engage in discussions with other drivers, because I’m happy with the ones that are on the team, that’s for sure. At the moment, there is no Plan B. It’s Lewis.”
