Formula 1 has reached global success in the last few decades. The worldwide fame of F1 is obviously because of the robust publicity tactics that the FIA has put into place since the early 2000s. Added to this, the hugely successful Netflix series called ‘Drive to Survive’ has also spread the word about the sport to people.
While ‘Drive to Survive’ is a major docu-series based on F1, there is a shortage of movies that are centered around this franchise. Thus, Lewis Hamilton announced, back in 2023, that he is producing an AppleTV movie called ‘Apex’ starring none other than Brad Pitt. The project has been shot at several locations where the Grands Prix are held even though its production was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood. But now, the movie has gotten a release date and it almost coincides with a massive step in Lewis Hamilton’s career in Formula 1.

Releasing worldwide on June 25, 2025, and in the USA on June 27, 2027, Lewis Hamilton‘s dream project ‘Apex’ will be a one-of-a-kind Hollywood flick that will portray the world of Formula 1. Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame has directed the movie, and the production team includes Brad Pitt, Chad Oman (the producer of Top Gun: Maverick and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) as well as Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films company.
The story of ‘Apex’ revolves around a fictional F1 team called APXGP. Pitt will play a former racer who has returned to the sport and he will have Damson Idris as his teammate. The ensemble cast of the film includes several Academy Award and Golden Globe nominees as well as winners. Lewis Hamilton has previously talked about his role in this ambitious project by saying, “My point was, ‘Guys, this movie needs to be so authentic’. I felt my job really has been to try to call BS. ‘This would never happen’. ‘This is how it would be’. ‘This is how it could happen’.”

Lewis Hamilton will be leaving a fifteen-year-long partnership with Mercedes at the end of 2024. From the next season, he will appear in the iconic Ferrari red overalls as he has taken up a $100 million offer to drive for the Scuderia. Thus, the weekend of July 4-6 will be special for the Briton as he will appear at his home race for the first time as a Ferrari driver. On top of this, his dream movie ‘Apex’ will be exactly 1 week old when the F1 circus will visit Silverstone in 2025. It deserves special mention that Silverstone will appear in the movie as last year, it was this circuit that saw Brad Pitt shooting some of the scenes for the flick.
With the release of his first project as a producer as well as his first season as a Ferrari racer happening in 2025, Lewis Hamilton will be a very busy man next season. But his goal will obviously remain the same as always–to capture his eighth World Championship. Do you think the 39-year-old will be able to accomplish this in his very first year with the Scuderia?
