Often those that criticize others reveal what he himself lacks. Lewis Hamilton has always been under heavy criticism. The Brit himself does not shy away from criticizing others. A former F1 team owner in a recent interview supported Hamilton’s “dirty” criticism of Michael Schumacher by providing justifications for Lewis’ claims.

Of all the tracks on the F1 calendar, Monaco is probably the hardest one to overtake as the track is narrow, with barriers in proximity to the track. During the 2011 Monaco GP, Lewis Hamilton overtook Michael Schumacher at the Nouvelle Chicane, followed by a team radio that referred to Schumacher being a dirty driver. The team radio was in respect to a prior incident that happened at turn 1, which almost led to a crash.

Schumacher was quite an aggressive driver on track who liked to stick his elbows out. Being aggressive and tough is a quality required for winning the world title. Eddie Jordan has also supported Lewis Hamilton’s claim of Michael being a dirty driver. Jordan mentioned how the German parked his car just after Rascasse to prevent others from beating his pole time and how Eddie Irvine’s 1999 Ferrari contract had a clause that required Irvine to drop back, allowing Schumacher to win the race.

The critics remember the illegal floor on the Benetton and when he parked or crashed the car in Monaco to get pole position. I was involved when Eddie Irvine went to Ferrari and when the contract said ‘Irvine had to move aside to let Schumacher win the race’,”

These two “cunning” incidents proved that Michael was willing to go the extra mile to win the titles, even if it made him look dirty. Hamilton has recently been criticizing his own team for not listening to him. Is this Hamilton’s own way of pushing the team to develop a competitive car? Or has Hamilton taken a page out of Schumacher’s book and is thinking of moving to a rival team to have fun before retirement?

With 2023 being Briton’s last contract year with Mercedes and no sign of a new contract, one can only wonder if Hamilton is planning to move to a rival team. According to Mirror.co.uk, during the SkySportsF1 podcast, Martin Brundle said, “I think there must be part of Lewis that thinks. I’d love to go to Ferrari and do a Michael Schumacher if I can’t win my eighth or ninth right now. Why don’t I go and have some fun there?”
