Lewis Hamilton was knighted at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, meeting Prince Charles. However, this isn’t the first time, the two have met each other.

Back when Lewis was still in his karting days, he met the prince. Now in 2021, the 7-time world champion is receiving the highest honor an individual can achieve in the country.

Many would assume that Hamilton met Prince Charles for the first time at Windsor Castle on Wednesday when he received his knighthood. However, that isn’t the case at all.

The two crossed paths, when Lewis was still making a name for himself in the world of motorsports. He was greeted by the Prince and even had an interaction. In 2021, they have met each other once again, this time Prince Charles was knighting the seven-time world champion; the highest honor in the UK.

Speaking to German broadcaster n-tv as quoted by GrandPx.news, “Only people who have really done something for the country should be knighted. I don’t think many people who are knighted now really deserve it. They all make a lot of money and donate some to charity but they haven’t done anything specific for the country,” Ecclestone explained.
