Mercedes’ ‘anonymous tip-off’ mystery remains unsolved even now! On June 10, The Daily Mail had claimed one of the team’s employers had aired its dirty laundry. The informant stated Silver Arrows boss Toto Wolff might be trying to ‘sabotage’ Lewis Hamilton’s races since he ditched the Stuttgart squad to move to Ferrari next year. However, the police could not find out the source of that email. Now, Wolff has revealed he wants to move on from the drama, learning from Hamilton who has experienced ‘much worse’.

It had all started with Lewis’ announcement in February that he would move to Ferrari. Ever since then, the Briton had failed to win a single podium at the first nine races of this year. While questions on the seven-time World Champion’s declining performance came up, a presumed Mercedes insider played whistleblower, sharing a note that their ‘vindictive’ team boss, Toto Wolff, was deliberately favoring George Russell over Hamilton.

However, both Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton have dismissed these rumors. Mercedes even put the police on the case to find out who sent that anonymous email, but in vain. Now, Wolff just wants to ignore and move forward from the incident. The Austrian told Oe24 at a recent interview, “I am certainly not [vindictive]. On the contrary, I am for fairness and I fight for fairness. I speak to Lewis every day. He thinks we should take out the negativity. He has also experienced much worse abuse and thinks we should ignore it.

Wolff and his star recruit, Hamilton, share a long-standing bond that started in 2013. The Merc Team Principal has been witnessing firsthand the abuse that Lewis has faced in various forms as the first and only Black racer in F1. In 2022, Brazilian ex-World Champion Nelson Piquet had even used racial slurs against the Briton. But he has always ignored the noise and Toto Wolff wants to follow this approach. The Austrian billionaire even opened up about his ongoing dynamics with Lewis Hamilton.

Toto Wolff shares stern message for F1 fans

The recent rumors claiming Wolff’s involvement in sabotaging Hamilton’s results have created ripples in F1 town. But the Austrian does not want to pay any heed to it. Therefore, he has a message for anyone questioning his relationship with Lewis Hamilton: “What is sometimes interpreted from the outside does not correspond to reality at all. So please ignore it!

Despite the news of their rift, Hamilton and Wolff have displayed a unified front at the F1 paddocks. Moreover, the seven-time World Champion’s recent podium victory in Spain has dispelled the rumors that his own team is plotting against him. All of this evidence points to the fact that, no matter what the anonymous mail claimed, Mercedes and Lewis are on good terms, even though he has chosen Ferrari for his 2025 campaign.
