Closure doesn’t really exist, that’s why we’re always looking for it. Not having closure is closure. As Felipe Massa looks for closure to right the wrongdoings of 2008, the Brazilian has been asked to accept the result as winning the lawsuit will not change anything for anyone except him. Lewis Hamilton will still be remembered for his records and the lawsuit cannot change that. Should Felipe Massa accept the result gracefully and put a full stop to the long-forgotten wrongdoing?

The inaugural Singapore GP in 2008 is a very famous race, but for all the wrong reasons. Fernando Alonso’s teammate Nelson Piquet Jr. intentionally crashed to give Alonso an advantage. However, in retrospect, had the incident not happened, Felipe Massa would’ve been crowned the champion. In fact, F1 dismissed the investigation to scrap the Singapore GP result as the prize ceremony had already happened. Bernie Ecclestone recently revealed that FIA and F1 had enough information to investigate the matter.

As a result, Felipe Massa has now lodged a case in court with expectations of the 2008 Driver’s title being taken away from Lewis Hamilton and reinstated to him. However, in a recent podcast, Massa has been suggested to drop the Lawsuit. The hosts suggested that Massa has every right to file the lawsuit, but does he really wanna bother himself and put up a fight 15 years after the incident? The hosts further explained how no one will remember or care about the title even if Massa won the case and that Hamilton will still be recognized as a 7-time-world champion.

According to the Late Braking F1 Podcast, the host said “Felipe Massa has every right. Why bother, why put yourself through it? Do you wanna win this title by having a legal battle fought over for you 15 years later?” Further adding, “No one will remember it, No one will care about it. Lewis Hamilton will still probably be called a Seven-time world champion.”
