Lewis Hamilton silenced his critics at the British GP—Is he the ultimate comeback king?

History-maker Lewis Hamilton etched his name in the Hall of Fame once again. By winning his ninth British Grand Prix, Sir Lewis has set a new record. This win was special. The victory was a long time in coming and finally, the 7x Champ clinched it after days of dry spells. Fans, experts, and celebrities across the globe came together to rejoice in the win. Yes, it was that important! Not just for Hamilton, but for his followers.

Silverstone was an exciting Grand Prix, with different winners from various manufacturers, making the season unpredictable. Despite the odds, Hamilton triumphed, earning back the title “The King of Silverstone.” However, ex-Haas boss Guenther Steiner was skeptical, saying, “Out of the four which started in the first four positions, Lewis is the least of my favorites.” But why, Guenther?

In his conversation with The Red Flags Podcast, Steiner clarified his reasons behind not seeing Lewis Hamilton as a probable winner at the British GP. “My reasoning is because he was the guy of the four which won last,” Steiner said, continuing, “Because George won in Austria, Max won this year, Lando won this year so I just thought maybe, Lewis cannot- will not get it done.” According to Guenther Steiner, Lewis was comparatively on the weaker end than the others in the starting four. There were already current winners on the frontline. However, Hamilton proved Steiner wrong.

“He [Lewis] did a fantastic race and George wasn’t there because he retired. So he won it and nobody gave it to him for free,” he further complimented. At the end of the British GP, Lewis Hamilton was the ‘lord’ of several records. Also, this was a beautiful way to end his Silverstone journey as a Mercedes driver.
