Every day that passes by when we don’t have concrete news on the future of Lewis Hamilton, we will hear speculations or suggestions. The past year has made Lewis look like a washed-up driver who is way past his prime. This was mainly due to the poor state of his car because there is still a lot of fight left in Hamilton, according to him. However, he doesn’t have the tools to fight this battle, this is exactly why he is deliberating on his contract extension with Mercedes. The Brackley outfit has made massive leaps after the upgrades introduced in Monaco. Although, according to a former Grand Prix winner, regardless of the upgrades, the Brit should tear up those papers and look for a flight to Maranello!

According to rumors, Ferrari decided to approach Hamilton with an offer to drive for them from 2024 onwards. However, these rumors never came across any concrete developments. Regardless of the offer, Johnny Herbert still believes Hamilton should abandon Mercedes and join Ferrari despite renewed hope in the team.

Johnny Herbert’s Suggestion for Lewis Hamilton to Get his 8th WDC

The races in Barcelona and Canada are a massive boost for the German team. However, despite the improvements, they are still quite far away from catching Red Bull. One team which is still closer is the Italian outfit.

“Despite that improvement they are still a long way off the Red Bull. The pure speed of the Ferrari is there or thereabouts with Red Bull but they fall down when it comes down to the race. That can be sorted out,” explained Herbert.

Ferrari still looks like a team that needs to fill a lot of holes before it can compete with Red Bull in a more holistic way. The fight with Mercedes in 2021 matured Red Bull. If Ferrari can also get on the same level in terms of race management, Herbert might have a point.
