It seems like the prayers have been heard. The time to celebrate is finally here for the Lewis Hamilton army! He has succeeded in taking the podium at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. P3 in both Saturday’s Qualifying and Sunday’s race; the seven-time World Champion maximized his performance in Barcelona. This weekend was more like a redemption after Montreal. Meanwhile, adding more fuel to the controversies carried over into Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton taunts his boss in the post-race interview.

After the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton expressed his frustration. Calling it the “worst race” of his career, he put the F1 community in a frenzy. Despite, Mercedes’ improvement, Hamilton’s performance fell short. He failed to secure a podium, leading to a disappointing result.

Taking a moment to call out Toto Wolff and Co., strategies, Hamilton stated: “I should have had the podium last week, last race. So it’s been a long time coming”  His tone had a sense of frustration from past events; at the same time, he was happy with his performance in Barcelona. “It’s been something we’ve been working towards. So, I’m really happy to be back in the battle,” Hamilton added. He is happy to be back in the fight and to race like he did today. Montreal offered a glimpse of Mercedes’ redemption, and the Spanish GP consolidated these facts.

After days of George Russell outperforming him, Lewis Hamilton will use this Spanish Grand Prix to remind everyone that his journey is not over yet. However, the race wasn’t a piece of cake. From a surprise at the beginning, and a few disappointments from the top teams, the Spanish Grand Prix was a thriller movie equivalent.

Lewis Hamilton’s P3 and other events that followed

Lewis started the race at P3. A surprise incident happened in the first lap itself. When George Russell (P4) managed to make it to the top, pushing pole sitter Lando Norris to P3; while Max Verstappen remained at P2. As one can imagine, Hamilton slipped down from P3 to P4 and then to P5 in the blink of an eye. And after that, it was just a fight to the top. He had the fire to prove his mettle more than ever. It felt like an urgency to show that he is very much alive in the sport. He emerged victorious. Not P1 of course, but P3 was more than enough for him. While the two Ferraris struggled among themselves, Lando Norris secured P2 and once again the Dutch Anthem encapsulated the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

As predicted by the experts, the Spanish Grand Prix brought with itself, the maddening thrill of motorsport. The fast corners and beautiful track enhanced the experience further. Lewis Hamilton’s performance at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix marks a significant moment in his season, showcasing his resilience and determination.
