Lewis Hamilton came agonizingly close to winning his 8th World Championship title last year. Rumors suggested he might not return to the track after the controversial race in Abu Dhabi, but he put the story to bed.

Mercedes ended the testing in Barcelona impressively. Hamilton secured P1 in the timesheet with George Russell finishing second. With the testing in Bahrain coming up before race week in the same venue, Hamilton and Mercedes will look to capitalize on their momentum.

After the testing in the Catalunya Circuit, the seven-time World Champion said he still has the hunger to achieve more in Formula One. He stated, “I feel the freshest that I ever have. Of course, there are so many different ways you can re-focus and get re-centered, and I would say this (break) was one of the best I’ve ever experienced.”

The addition of George Russell to Mercedes is a welcome competition for Hamilton, and he will hope the 24-year-old can push him to the limits.
