The coming together between the two championship protagonists at Copse in 2021 ended up in a huge crash for Verstappen. Nevertheless, Lewis went on to stand on the top step of the podium. Pointing to that, Lewis compared his experience battling Leclerc at the 2022 British GP.

He took a dig at his 2021 rival, Max Verstappen, by saying, “Clearly, a lot different to what I experienced last year. At Copse for example, the two of us went through there with no problem, you know.”

Lewis Hamilton Delivers a Comeback in 2022 season

The season kicked off in a bitter manner for the seven-time world champion. After losing the title on the last lap of the 2021 season, Hamilton aimed at clinching his 8th world title this season.

The Briton has had his fair share of problems with the W13. The Mercedes developed an underperforming car, which saw them falling down the pecking order. The porpoising issue has been the major thorn in the side of Lewis and the German manufacturer.

Yet, the podium at Silverstone completes the third podium finish for Lewis in the 2022 season. Also, the second consecutive podium in a row after finishing the Canada GP in P3 as well.

The porpoising issue does not allow them to run the car at the desired height. The race pace and reliability of the Mercedes have been its strength in the 2022 season. When push comes to shove, Hamilton has always pushed his limit and that of his car to deliver strong points for the team.
