F1 has been pushing for equality in its message since the beginning of the 2020 season. The sport has repeatedly endorsed diversity and quality in all forms of life. But for some time now, F1 no longer takes part in the pre-race ceremonies to show support to the message of ‘ We Race as One’. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton gave his opinion on F1’s stance on the issue now.

Hamilton has been leading from the front to push the message of more diversity and equality in the sport. But surprisingly, he mentioned he supports F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali’s decision.

I do think what Stefano said made sense: Lewis Hamilton

As reported by GPFans, the F1 CEO previously mentioned that, rather than grabbing attention, this is the time for taking action to make the sport more diverse. Hamilton too agreed that now it’s time to push the message rather than just talk about it.

“I have not put a huge amount of thought to it but I do think what Stefano said made sense, that it is about action now. So that is something I look forward and hope we will see over a period of time,” said Hamilton.

“Things like, for example, I had a great call last year with all the teams about getting included in this charter, so every team is trying to push for diversity. I guess really instead of just talking about these things and making those gestures, really pushing.”

He continued, “But I don’t know whether we need to have that one moment, we should be able to do it at any stage really but I did feel like the overall slogan last year with all the different things compounded into one… I think we can do more and be more impactful somehow. I don’t know what that is just yet,” the Briton concluded.

It is not at all surprising to see Hamilton express his thoughts and be very much invested in such subjects. It is indeed time to take some action and push the message about equality and diversity.
