Is Lewis Hamilton's trophy strategy a sign of genius or just plain eccentricity?

Sir Lewis Hamilton is running out of space! He was bound to make it happen. Displaying 200 podium finishes and other trophies requires more space. Over the last 17 years, the Briton has written and rewritten F1’s history in his words. And as he moves ahead, keep an eye on him, there is more to come! But here is the problem – the poor guy is having ‘serious’ issues with keeping his trophies. How will he fix this hitch?

The 2024 Hungarian GP marked Lewis’s 200th podium finish. 200! There is barely anyone on the grid to break this record. This new achievement that the 39-year-old unlocked is another piece of legacy he will be leaving behind. More importantly, the so-called ‘over’ Lewis Hamilton is back in the game. However, his accomplishments are adding to his troubles. What kind of a dilemma is this? On one hand, Lewis wants to win more and on the other hand, he needs to find a place to keep the tokens of achievement.

Following his P3 in Budapest, Hamilton spoke to the media. He was asked where he puts all of his trophies. A grinning Lewis gave a hilarious response, saying: “Oh God. I’m renting a storage place and I pretty much have all the storage in this company so… I might as well buy the company.” So that looks like a good solution- either rent a storage place or buy the company. Sir, whichever deal looks the best; grab it!

While George Russell’s struggles tail behind since Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton is on a challenger’s streak. Why challenger? Because, the legend is very much back in the game, thanks to the successful upgrades in the W15. Starting from P5, the race was meant to be filled with hurdles. To reach the top Lewis had to overtake Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen respectively. And following a series of drama and chaos during the race, reached P3. Despite his collision with Verstappen in lap 3, Hamilton did not lose his position. In fact that incident solidified his race results.

Lewis won a trophy for the 12th time in 18 visits to the Hungaroring. He also became the only driver to clinch 200 podiums out of the 345 races he’s been in. If you want to see what a comeback looks like – look at Lewis Hamilton. His two and a half years of waiting in anticipation for a win, and then three consecutive podiums! One can truly say, the King has returned.
