With all the global attention that Formula 1 enjoys now, the time to show maturity and responsibility for it has also come. Recently, a grave development has hit the Emilia-Romagna region that forced the Grand Prix to be held this weekend to be canceled. With the ill effects of devastating floods hitting the region in Italy, the sport made the informed choice of canceling the race. But with it, it also made the choice to do something with the platform it has to alleviate the pain of the people suffering there right now. And Lewis Hamilton is all the more grateful for it.

Formula 1 and all the other stakeholders, including teams, have been doing so much to raise monetary relief for the people of the region. However, what the AlphaTauri team has done to deal with the problem on a grassroots level is nothing short of commendable. Essentially, the region’s home team, their star driver Yuki Tsunoda went the extra mile to help the people out there and now the 7x champion has publicly lauded him for it.

Recently, pictures and videos of the young Japanese driver went viral where he along with some of the team members rolled their sleeves up to help clean out and mitigate the damage done by the floods in the region.

And now, the F1 team took to its official Instagram account to urge fans to donate to the relief cause. They captioned the post, “If you’d like to assist flood victims in Faenza & Emilia-Romagna, click the link in our bio. Thank you to all friends of the team who’ve sent support so far.” And their spokesperson being the young Tsunoda.

This prompted Hamilton to take to his own Instagram account. Re-sharing the post on his Instagram story, Hamilton helped spread the message. But he also took this opportunity to hail Tsunoda. He captioned his story, “And big up to @yukitsunoda0511 and team for leading but example and helping out on the ground.”
