Lewis Hamilton Sets Yet Another All-Time F1 Record, Shatters Michael Schumacher’s Whopping 15-Year Streak

It looks like every time Lewis Hamilton steps in his car these days, he breaks an F1 record. At the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, in front of his home fans, it was no different. He got another significant record to his name after he led the race on Sunday.

Hamilton is now the only driver who has led at least one lap in 16 consecutive seasons in Formula One. This is totally a mind-boggling stat that highlights the talent and, more importantly, the willpower of the 7-time world champion.

The Mercedes driver was able to add another record to his name after he finished on the podium on Sunday. He became the first driver in F1 in history to stand on a podium 13 times at the same track. Although nice, it is a bit surprising to see him leading the race once again this year after all the struggles of the initial season.

Hamilton was happy with the performance of his car at Silverstone. He even pointed out that they have closed the gap to rival Ferrari and Red Bull now.

Hamilton was a genuine contender to win the race on Sunday against the Ferraris. But he could only manage P3 after a late safety car halted his progress. The Mercedes driver revealed he could see the gap closing lap-by-lap.

“We’ve made a step closer to them. So we’ve got to keep pushing. The fact that we were able to follow and dice like that, lap on lap, is a testament to the direction I think that we’re now in. I was just grateful that I could be in the battle. Because I’ve not been in that fight for a while.”

“For a good period of time, I was matching the Ferraris´ pace, and even better at some stages. And we got the quickest lap at the end,” said Hamilton.

It is simply astounding that Hamilton continues to rack up records at this stage of his career. But he would be happy to get this particular stat to his name after all the tough times in 2022.
